After a fantastic sprint series final last weekend that incorporated a schools fleet racing event, get ready for a fantastic end of Season event this weekend at Royal Cork. There will be over ninety ILCA sailors across three classes including current Olympic 2028 campaigners Finn Lynch, Ewan McMahon and Eve McMahon. All three are coming off a fantastic season with Finn just after winning the Grand Slam final and Eve securing second. https://afloat.ie/sail/olympic-sailing/la-2028/item/68832-gold-and-silver-for-ireland-at-sailing-grand-slam. Ewan has also had some fantastic results in 2025, including a ninth place in the Europeans in August.

Sailing with Finn and Ewan are two Canadian sailors, Liam Bruce and James Johasz. U21 sailors Fiachra McDonnell, Tom Coulter, Charlie Keating, Daniel Palmer and Andrew Kingston  will look to measure their progress against the seniors and a number of master sailors will also look to leverage their sailing wisdom outside of Roches point.

in the ILCA 6 fleet, there are sailors competing to qualify for the Youth Worlds in Vilamoura in December with current national champion Sienna Wright competing along with current Youth national champion, Bobby Driscoll trng to stay ahead of challenges this weekend. Local Masters Conor Barry and Phillip Doherty are renewing their battle after Phillip won last weekends spring finale event at Crosshaven and the overall sprint series just moving past Robert Jeffreys who is competing at the ILCA world masters in Italy this week.

It is a fantastic event to be hosting with a rare opportunity to welcome our current crop of Olympic sailors and congratulate them on a fantastic season. We hope to see you at the club over the weekend. Sailing has FG on Sat at noon and 11am Sunday morning. Presentation in the club house on Sunday afternoon. There are sailing suppers avaiilable in the club on Saturday evening.

As part of the ISA women on the water initiative, Royal Cork’s Admiral Annamarie Fegan will host Eve McMahon in a female attendees only discussion in the dining room on Sat afternoon at 17.30. It is for all ages and will give update on her journey and hopefully motivate some of our female sailors in their sailing journeys.
