Fabulous start to the Carrigaline Court Hotel Frostbites

The Carrigaline Court Hotel Dinghy Frostbite league launched into racing on Sunday 5th with a strong fleet aided by a surprising November day with sunshine and decent consistent wind from the west on the Curlane Bank. The racing was greatly enhanced through the efficient skills of the Race Officer Ciaran Mac Sweeney who managed three starts for three fleets without a single recall and with the minimum of breaks between racing.

The ILCA 7 fleet featured some dramatic racing between the ILCA 7s and a single RS aera 7 sailed by Emmet O’Sullivan from MBSC who interchanged the outright lead several times on each race. Jonathan O’Shaughnessy leads by a point from Micheal O’Suilleabhain. In the ILCA 6 fleet, there were a number of sailors who have just moved up from  ILCA 4 and Dan O’Leary managed this transition brilliantly by winning his first race. Andrew Kingston leads after day one from Max Tolan and Liam Duggan. In the ILCA 4 fleet, there was an air of sibling rivalry with three O’Neills sailing. In the end it was Shane Collins who leads after the first day of racing with Craig O’Neill lying within a point in second.

In the Topper fleet, Ellen MacDonagh and Kate Deane traded first places, but Ellen leads out after day one.

It was an amazing day of racing in the first set of races with our new series sponsor, the Carrigaline Court Hotel. We will see several more boats next weekend returning from other events and are looking forward to some great racing.
