Welcome return for Billy Duane’s Expression in Housework’s White Sail League.
The Housework’s White Sail League at the RCYC continues to draw out increasing numbers with 12 boats competing last Friday. It was a welcome mix of newcomers and hardened veterans and Paul Hassett (OOD) set a perfect course given the conditions, with all boats heading into a flood tide on their way out towards Roche’s Point.
Silver Breeze (Mick McKenna) and Expression (Billy Duane) were welcome return competitors to the Friday night scene and quickly showed that there were no cobwebs in their sailing lockers with both boats being in the pack at the first mark.Following a run back in to Cage and a broad reach in harbour towards No 10, the fleet beat back out to Cork Beg. At this stage the wind was light and variable a fact which caught some boats unaware at the Cork Beg mark. Indulgence, Silver Breeze, Expression & Tambourine (K Collins) were the first boats home with the remainder of the fleet split over the preceding two legs. On corrected time, Expression took 1st followed by Silver Breeze and Indulgence. In overall terms, Golden Odyssey (R Jefferies) leads from Tranquilizer (C Morehead) and the consistent performance of Slo Mo Shun (JJ O’Keeffe) has put them in 3rd place overall. The league continues next Friday at 1855hrs.
