Sunday was a marvellous day of sailing in Cork Harbour. Starting with our smallest dinghies of which sixty four were taking part in the Cobbler League. This number was boosted by a very welcome contingent from Kinsale Yacht Club. Joined on the Curlane Bank a large batch of Laser sailors having a coaching session. Also using the Bank as a starting line at it’s northern tip were cruisers from white sail and classes three and four sailing in the CH Marine Autumn League. The incorporation of class three to the in Harbour course was acknowledged to be a successful move. The zephyr of breeze that greeted the competitors quickly turned into a sunny twenty knot south easterly giving great racing for all classes. Meanwhile outside the harbour, classes one ,two and the seven boat 1720 fleet were sailing .”Altair” Kieran Dorgan/Jason Losty are leading the biggest fleet in their Beneteau 36.7 in IRC 1, but no doubt defending champion “Fools Gold” Rob Mc Connell will be out to make amends having made a mistake in the course on Sunday scoring a DSQ in race 2. Paul and Deirdre Tingle’s beautiful X34 “Alpaca” is lying second with KYC’s Dan Buckley lying 3rd in “Justus”
Class 3 is being led by YaGottaWanna Dave Lane and Sinead Enright’s J24, while Alan Mulcahy from Kinsale lead the charge in class 4. Minx III sailed by Tom McNeice is leading the strong White sail class.
