Good news from Shelley D’s Michael Murphy in Schull is that entries for Calves week have now topped the sixty mark. This is beyond all expectations that realistically had been expected to be in the forties.
Two late entrants from Galway have joined the scene. Martin Breen’s Reflex 38 and Barry Heskin’s Dubois 33 will join forces with the Class One fleet beside, amongst others, Kieran Twomey’s Gloves Off, Colman Phelan’s Jump Juice and Aidan Heffernan’s Indulgence.
Two modified super quarter tonners have also entered. Jason Losty will be trailing Illes Piteuse to the event and also sailing will be Ian Travers/Eamonn Rohan’s Per Elisa. This will be the first Irish competitive outing for these two boats since their initial appearance at the recent Coutts Quarter Ton Cup.
The Crosshaven,Fastnet, Schull race scheduled for last Friday night did not take place due to lack of entrants and it is presumed the adverse weather conditions acted as a deterrent. This race was to have counted for SCORA offshore points. However, the Thursday race this week around the Fastnet will count for SCORA Offshore.
Further updates as the week progresses.
Daily prize giving at 6pm.
