Topper Ireland Traveller Series 2026
The Royal Cork Yacht Club is delighted to host the 4th event in the Topper Ireland Traveller Series, on 3-4 October, 2026.
What is the Topper Ireland Traveller Series?
The Topper Ireland Traveller Series is a nationwide circuit of one-day sailing events, hosted by a variety of clubs, designed to provide young sailors the opportunity to compete against peers from other clubs in both the Topper 5.3 and Topper 4.2 fleets.
The series consists of four one-day ranking and development events across the island of Ireland, in friendly and supportive environments. Each event is typically structured around a single day of racing, making participation practical for families travelling from across the country.
Typical Weekend Format
Each ‘Traveller Event’ is a structured one-day regatta, held on a Sunday, making participation practical for families travelling from near and wide.
To help sailors prepare, Topper Ireland and host clubs also offer an optional Open Training Day on the Saturday, allowing competitors to receive coaching, become familiar with the venue and local conditions, and build confidence ahead of racing.
A typical Traveller weekend therefore follows this format:
Saturday (Optional)
- Open Training session delivered by Topper Ireland / Host Club.
- Opportunity to practise at the host venue.
- Focus on boat handling, race starts, tactics, mark rounding and local conditions.
- Particularly beneficial for newer sailors or those attending their first Traveller event.
Sunday (Official Traveller Event)
- Registration and sailor briefing in the morning.
- Four or more races scheduled during the day, subject to weather and race management.
- Racing for Topper 5.3 and 4.2 fleets.
- Prize-giving at the conclusion of racing.
