The current edition of THIS ISLAND NATION, the radio programme about maritime affairs, reports on the Round Ireland voyage by a fleet of three yachts from Foyle Sailing Club, crewed by disabled sailors with able-bodied helpers, to raise awareness of the SAILABILITY Ireland project, run in conjunction with the Irish Sailing Association.
The voyage called at clubs around the coast which support disabled sailing. Interviewed are George McCormack and Jerome McGirl.
The programme also reveals the amazing story of an Irish Arctic explorer whose family is fighting the US Government about what the claim is the abuse of his memory. Jerome Collins is described as being as important in Arctic exploration as the legendary Tom Crean, but not as well-known.
