Reminder – The Nathan Kirwan Trust Optimist Clinic

A reminder that The Nathan Kirwan Trust Optimist Clinic takes place in the Royal Cork YC on 5th & 6th April 2014.

Nathan was involved in an accident in June 2013 that resulted in a spinal cord injury leaving him paralysed from the chest down at the young age of 24yrs.

Nathan is a past employee of the Royal Cork and is a keen sailor himself having been regular crew onboard the Kenefick’s Quarter Tonners, Manzanita and Tiger and participated in two Student Yachting Worlds with Cork Institute of Technology.

Nin O’Leary, Seafra Guilfoyle, Cian O’Regan and George Kenefick are the lead coaches for the clinic and have all generously given up their weekend, along with other coaches.

The clinic takes place in the Royal Cork, Crosshaven, and we would like to see optimist sailors  make an effort and come down to support a great cause and learn from the best as all of these coaches are racing competitively and very successful in their field.

The clinic caters for all levels from Regatta to top optimist sailors and this is perfect timing to get some coaching in before the season kicks off. We expect to have upwards of 50 sailors with a mini regatta at the end of each day with spot prizes for performance and progression. The entry fee for the clinic is €100 per sailor with 100% of the proceeds going to the Nathan Kirwan Trust.

Sailors must register for the clinic as numbers need to be finalized.
