Strong Cork Harbour Showing at RS Feva National Championships 2026, 21st -23rd August.
The RS Feva fleet delivered an excellent championship at the 2026 RS Nationals in Killaloe Yacht Club, attracting 22 boats and completing six races across the event. The results highlighted the strength and depth of junior sailing across Cork Harbour, with sailors from Royal Cork Yacht Club, Monkstown Bay Sailing Club and Cove Sailing Club making up 64% of the fleet.
Despite the changing conditions, the race team led by David Lovegrove and Dave Mullally delivered a full programme for each of the RS Fevas, RS400 and RS200 fleets. The event was sailed in light and challenging conditions, testing the sailors’ patience and tactical awareness. Multiple recalls increased the pressure on the start lines, while the difficult breeze made it challenging for the Race Committee to get racing underway. The championship closed on Sunday with the final race being started but ultimately abandoned when the wind faded, the same happened with the last race on Saturday and first race on Friday.
The highest-placed Cork Harbour boat was Harry Coole and Chloe Coole (Monkstown Bay SC / Royal Cork YC), who secured an impressive 5th place overall in the Gold Fleet. Their series included 3rd in Race 3 and consistently strong performances throughout the championship.
Close behind in 6th place overall were newbies to the Fleet Jack Ryan and Max O’Sullivan (Monkstown Bay SC / Royal Cork YC). The pair demonstrated excellent pace and consistency across the six-race series, including a 2nd place finish in Race 3.
James Nyhan and John Keating (Royal Cork YC) continued their strong season with a superb 7th place overall finish in the Gold Fleet. Their results reflected the depth of talent currently within the Royal Cork Feva squad, with top-eight finishes in every race counting towards their series.

Another strong performance came from Nicholas Nyhan and Ciaran Keating (Royal Cork YC), who finished 10th overall in a highly competitive fleet, securing a place in the top ten nationally.
Alex Mills and Paddy Morrissey (Cove SC) finished 13th in Gold Fleet.
The club was also well represented by Jenny O’Connor and Aisling O’Connor (Royal Cork YC), who finished 15th overall after competing throughout the championship in the Gold Fleet.
In the Silver Fleet, several developing Cork Harbour teams gained valuable championship experience. Siblings Harry and Isabelle O’Mahony (Cove SC) finished 11th place overall and 2nd in the Silver Fleet. Siblings Aisling and Aoife Ní Shúilleabháin (Monkstown Bay SC) finished 12th overall and 3rd in the Silver Fleet. Oliver Kenneally and Tom Cunnigham (Monkstown Bay SC) finished 14th overall. Robyn Barry and Mary Kenneally (Monkstown Bay SC / Royal Cork YC) finished 16th overall. Millie Horgan and Lily Moynihan (Monkstown Bay SC) finished 18th overall, while Simon Mills and Youen Deasy (Cove SC / Royal Cork YC) secured 19th place overall. Hazel Barry and Anna O’Connell (Monkstown Bay SC / Royal Cork YC) in 20th place overall. Siblings Louis and Teddy Kang (Cove SC) completed the local boats in 22nd overall.
One of the standout features of the event was the significant Cork Harbour representation. Between Royal Cork Yacht Club, Monkstown Bay Sailing Club and Cove Sailing Club, 14 of the 22 boats entered originated from the harbour area. The fleet produced three top-ten finishes, with Harry and Chloe Coole, Jack Ryan and Max O’Sullivan, and James Nyhan and John Keating all finishing inside the overall top seven.

These results are a testament to the commitment of sailors, parents, coaches and volunteers who continue to support the thriving RS Feva community across Cork Harbour. Thank you to Jimmy Nyhan for supplying the local boats with safety rib cover and repairs. With strong performances throughout both the Gold and Silver Fleets and over half of the championship fleet representing local clubs, the future of RS Feva sailing in the region continues to look exceptionally bright.
Congratulations to all sailors who represented Royal Cork Yacht Club, Monkstown Bay Sailing Club and Cove Sailing Club at the 2026 RS Feva National Championships. Their results showcased the strength of junior sailing in Cork Harbour and provided another excellent platform for future success.
