“Skilled for Gold” Regatta

‘Thomas Chaix was very much the coach in residence in June with over 70 junior sailors participating in the month long ‘Skilled for Gold’ dinghy coaching programme. The emphasis throughout the month was on boat handling skills and sailors from the Optimist, Topper, Feva, Laser and 420 fleets got together for a one day regatta last Thursday to mark the end of the programme. James McCann took top honors for the Optimist fleet, Harry Twomey won the Optimist regatta fleet and the 420 combo of Harry Whitaker and Arran Walsh took first position under PY handicap for the mixed dinghy fleet. Congratulations to Connor Walsh who was declared most improved Optimist sailor and citations also to George Dwyer and Georgia Keating for most improved in the Feva class. Thanks to Paul Keel who was OOD for the day, Julie Tingle, Dermot Lyden and Tim Lucas for helping on the water, all the sailors, class captains and huge Thanks to Thomas Chaix.’
