Schull Community School are the 2008 Schools National Team Racing Champions.
10 teams qualified for the Schools National Team Racing Championships. Despite the low tide, cold and squally Northerly breeze PRO Dave O’Brien (ably assisted by Jack Crotty and Sean Whelan) got thrugh the full schedule of 55 races on the Saturday.
Races were held off the Western end of the Royal Cork Marina on the Owenabue River and this allowed for easy change overs and excellent viewing for the other teams and spectators.
There were two fleets of Firefly Dinghies kindly donated for the event by the Royal Cork Yacht Club and the UCC Sailing Club.
Ed Alcock, Dave Harte and Simon Murray were the, on the water judges.
Schull 1 emerged the winners of this National Championship after a 3 race final against their school mates in Schull 2.
