The Royal Cork Yacht club has signed up as being one of the founder clubs for the first year of Sailfleet. The boats are normally based in Lough Derg Yacht Club in
The Royal Cork is to take delivery of the boats on Saturday 7th June 2008 and they will stay in the club until ACC Bank Cork Week.
A race from Kinsale to Crosshaven is planned for Saturday 7th June 2008 for all 8 boats. Crews from Kinsale Yacht Club will crew 4 of the boats and will take on their Royal Cork counterparts.
We are looking for 4 crew per boat to represent the club against Kinsale.
The cost is €50.00 per person for this race. Aidan Heffernan and his crew on indulgence have already agreed to represent the club and have agreed to take 1 boat which will be crewed by the crew of Indulgence.
If anyone is interested in representing the club against Kinsale Yacht Club they might please email me at ronanenright@hotmail.com or you might please call Miriam in the office at 4831023.
Ribs will be provided for rescue cover and a support boat will accompany the fleet up the coast. Because of the nature of this race, crew will be limited to members over 18 years.
Further events will be run in the club in the weeks following the boats arrival.
If anyone is interested in using these boats or helping in the organisation of these events, please contact either myself or Miriam.
Ronan Enright,
Sailing Committee.
