Celebrating the arrival of the Clipper Round the world Race in Kinsale, led on this leg by Yacht Cork, Seascapes will join in the celebrations tonight by broadcasting live from Kinsale Yacht Club. The festivities in Kinsale are in full swing and have led to enormous excitement and celebratory feel in the town. Among the guests to be interviewed on the programme will be Alice Kingston, Commodore of KYC and the Skipper of Cork Hannah Jenner.
Cork is the first ever Irish entry in Clipper Round the world Yacht Race. However, it wasn’t all plain sailing for the Cork crew and in January they were most unfortunate to have their yacht strike a reef in the Java Sea and as it was deemed not to be salvageable the crew were dispersed throughout the fleet on other yachts until a replacement was found for them to complete the voyage. Their triumphant arrival at Kinsale to an ecstatic welcome must have well and truly made up for the disappointment they experienced and no doubt the activities and festivities planned for them until their departure from Cork on July 9th will help to erase the bad memories.
