RS Feva Racing

You may have seen some new boats on the block at RCYC – The Fevas have arrived!!

These new dinghys should fill the post Oppy gap so many of our younger sailors ( and parents ) have experienced looking for a cost effective, competitive 2+ sail dinghy.

The Feva is an International Class, this status granted in November 2006 by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF). It was ‘dinghy of the year’ in USA with fleets growing fast all around the globe, extensive training and club racing right up to World Championship competition available.

The 2007 Feva Europeans were held in Dumore East and 3 of the top ten boats were helmed and crewed by current Optimist sailors from the Irish stable!

The class runs a comprehensive training programme and is already well established in Ireland.

The Hull material is robust polyethelene manufactured using the latest techniques, a far more durable alternative than a grp

Suitable Crew weights of 80-115kg and a boat weight of 63kg roll up for a very manageable package for our younger sailors both on and off the shore.

A 7m2 Asymmetrical Spinnaker / Gennaker adds to the excitement on the downwind legs! When things go haywire – and they do – the boat can be easily righted and with the open transome, It won’t hold water so bailing is not an issue.

RS Feva XL racing is spreading like wildfire around the world. The reasons are simple:

·         Fantastic fleet racing
·         Junior team racing
·         Teamwork and two person racing skills
·         Coaching and race training
·         One design Class Rules
·         Worldwide Class structure
·         Above all a boat that is modern and exciting

Also perfect for parent / child racing & training

Strict one design means no hidden costs, evenly matched performance and highly tactical racing. Just imagine the excitement and think about the life long racing experience.

Wednesday evening and Saturday league racing continues the fun and competitive nature our kids enjoy on the Optimist circuit.
