The RS Feva’s had two excellent races on Sunday 11th October for the second Sunday of racing in the Autumn Series. Sailing conditions were ideal with a warm westerly wind of 12 to14 knots reminiscent of Summer.
The Optimist fleet joined the Feva’s on the race course set on the Curlane Bank. Race officer Michael McCann set an excellent windward leeward course of two rounds across the strong ebb tide. Amy Harrington and Vikki Cudmore got off to a great start by winning the first race after a tight tussle with Ali Morehead/Grattan Roberts and Chris Phelan/Sam McGinley. Dermot Lyden/Peter Stokes losing out to a late shift having rounded the last leeward mark in 1st place.
In the second race the wind shifted to the right just before the start resulting in a resetting of the marks. After some very close racing Amy Harrington/Vikki Cudmore maintained their good form to record 1st place with Lyden/Stokes 2nd and Brendan Lyden/Colm O’Regan in 3rd place. Harrington and Cudmore are now in a strong position in the series.
