The Royal Thames Yacht Club 2K Team Racing Invitational Regatta took place last weekend with 10 teams representing 5 nations from all around Europe battling it out for the title of the London edition of the European 2K Team Racing Series.
The fleet saw breezy conditions for all 3 days of the regatta and with wind readings of above 26kts the boats were reefed down to accommodate the gusty conditions and maintain a high level of team racing rather than just survival.
Despite the near gale force winds, the teams were still able to fit in 16 races, in order to gain a fair result, as well as continue to demonstrate a high level of team racing.
The Royal Cork finished in 5th place which was a respectable result for a newly formed team competing on the circuit for the first time.
Tom Hebbert, captain of the winning team “Spinnaker Auspicious” stated: It was a fantastic event, and it was the second time we have come up against “Costa Smeralda” in the finals, we’re looking forward to the next leg of the tour in Hamburg, and as always thank you to the Royal Thames Yacht Club for being excellent hosts”.
