The Royal Cork Optimist Fleet feted Cian Byrne (UK Junior Optimist Champion) and Peter McCann (Irish Junior Optimist Champion) in traditional fashion last night. Admiral, Mike McCarthy, and Rear-Admiral, Deirdre Tingle were on hand to oversee the customary guard of honour on the slipway prior to launching for Tuesday evening racing.
Darren O’Keeffe was there with his camera to capture the event in pictures (more here) and the two champions gave the bar bell a good ringing after racing to share their joy!
Missing on the night was our Senior Optimist Champion, Seafra Guilfoyle who is away this week competing in the European Optimist Team Racing Championship in Ledro, Italy.
