The Season Starts Early for Royal Cork Juniors in West Cork
What seems like the whole junior section of the Club has decamped to West Cork this week for the start of the junior dinghy season. Over 20 Optimist families headed to Baltimore for the much loved IODAI coaching camp and while the kids are enjoying themselves on the water, the adults are walking, swimming in Lough Ine and lunching in Bushe’s – idyllic!
Over in Schull, the ISA regional squads are in action with Royal Cork sailors making up the bulk of the Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, Topper and 420 squads. The teenagers are having a great time catching up with their friends from other clubs.
The week got off to a great start when Seafra Guilfoyle, James McCann and Adam D’Arcy were all nominated for the ISA young sailor of the year award – half the nominees were Royal Cork! Seafra is also in the running (along with Anthony O’Leary) for Afloat Sailor of the Year and is currently in the lead on the public vote. Please give him your support on www.afloat.ie
