Junior Beach BBQ
Summer finally arrived in Cork last weekend so all the Club juniors and their families decamped to White Bay for an afternoon of fun on the beach. Annamarie Fegan and her team led the advance party and by the time everyone else arrived, in a variety of motor cruisers, yachts and RIBs, a fantastic BBQ had been set up. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky all afternoon as families swam, sailed, kayaked, built sandcastles, ate and dozed in the Indian summer heat. Annamarie delivered a feast, completed with donated salads and desserts and ice ladened buckets kept all manner of drinks perfectly chilled. For the more energetic, Jim McGinley, organised a rugby match – mums v teenagers. The competitive spirit soon took over as Linda O’Keeffe got into full tackling mode to get the ball and Emma Neville sprinted the length of the strand, dodging hefty teenage school players, to score a great try.
Many thanks to Annamarie Fegan and Michael McCann and all the gang who cooked, served and cleaned up – it was a great day!
