Royal Cork Compete In Irish Laser Masters

The Royal St. George yacht club hosted the Irish Laser Masters Championship over the weekend and it marked the return of the first national laser event since 2019.

In excess of sixty sailors competed across the standard and radial classes, with competitor ages ranging from 35 years and upwards.

The standard class saw our own laser veterans Nick Walsh and Eddie Rice continue to compete at the highest level; Nick finished in 2nd place overall , missing out on the masters title by just 1.5 points, while Eddie wasn’t far behind finishing in fourth place in the 28 boat fleet.

Fellow club member Stephen O Shaughnessy competed in the radial fleet after and finished 12th in the 34 boat fleet. Royal st. George members gave a master class (literally), taking all top five slots in the class led by Sean Craig as title winner.

Special thanks to the Royal St George for running a very enjoyable and safe event which was framed nicely with good weather and a great atmosphere.
