Real Club Nautico de Torrevieja recently hosted a truly international Optimist regatta with close to 350 competitors from across twenty different countries. A number of Royal Cork Optimist sailors travelled to Spain to compete and the organisers went our of their way to welcome the sole Irish contingent.
The Royal Cork members were invited to exchange respective club burgees on arrival and in doing so took the opportunity to also present a copy of our book detailing the deep history of the Royal Cork Yacht Club. RCNT is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and the message was clear that they would love to see more Royal Cork members visiting their club over the coming years.
2020 Chairman Colin Morehead commented that many of our members now travel to yacht clubs throughout the world and this offers us a great opportunity to extend invites to the Royal Cork as we begin the build up to our own tricentenary.
