It’s less than 6 weeks and counting to the start of the International Optimist Dinghy Association of Ireland (IODAI) Spring Training Clinic in Baltimore. Registration for the event opened a week ago and already 75 sailors have signed up to participate in this fun week. Of the 160 sailors that took part in last year’s clinic, over 35+ were from the Royal Cork Yacht Club. Sailors from around the country along with their parents and siblings were treated to a wonderful week following the storms that initially threatened to play mayhem with the logistics. It is anticipated that similar numbers will be signing up again this year.
The Clinic runs from Sunday 15th February until Friday 20th February (mid term break) with registration taking place on Sat 14th for early arrivals. The Clinic caters for optimist sailors of all levels from beginners right through to the more senior sailors. There are activities organised for non sailing siblings and the social activities for parents aren’t bad either!.
Baltimore Sailing Club has undergone an extension and renovation in the past year and the sailors together with their coaches will get to enjoy these new facilities.
IODAI have asked that you make sure you have entered for Baltimore as late entries will not be accepted (closing date is 30th January) but given the take up over the past 7 days it is more likely that the quota will be reached prior to the closing date.
