Optimists Continue to turn out in Numbers

Twenty-eight main fleet plus a further six copper fleet Optimist sailors were out tonight. In the main fleet, Conor Lyden showed the benefit of a bit of R&R on the beaches by winning both races from Seafra Guilfoyle while Julie Tingle is leading overall.

Tuesday evening results are here and Saturday’s results are here.

Racing in the main fleet was very close and the standard at all levels was excellent. At the front of the fleet the lead changed a number of times in both races a number of our less experienced sailors showed considerable improvement in their skills.

Very positive feedback was received from all the sailors regarding the coaching by Fernando Gwozdz who started skills coaching with the Optimists yesterday. Fernando was on hand to coach the sailors during the evening races and this was clearly reflected in their performance.

Brian Trevor and his team continued to  coach the regatta fleet. They had a very successful evening doing exercises in the relatavie calm of Currabinny.
