Hibernation ended for many of our optimist dinghies this week as we entered Phase 2 of Ireland’s reopening on June 8th. Nineteen of our sailors are being coached, in groups of five or fewer, twice a week until the end of the month. Briefings, rigging and launching look different from the norm as sailors comply with social distancing guidelines. Enthusiasm is high, they’re happy to be back with friends and each is eager to progress their skills.
Current guidelines indicate that organised sailing activity in clubs should be avoided if safety boat assistance is more likely, i.e. where there may be a higher chance of a MOB or capsize, however from June 28th this will be eased and the Tin & Copper will take to the water again.
For enquiries about Copper and Tin fleet sailing please contact Lorraine O’Sullivan and for Gold, Silver and Bronze please contact Derek Moynan.
