The Optimist Laying-Up Supper on Friday 30th November at 7pm should not be missed if you are an Optimist sailor or parent. Prizes for the overall leagues will be presented and there is a symposium with Nin O’Leary to discuss plans for coaching in the New Year. Please call the club to give the Mary and her team a reasonable idea of the numbers for catering.
Supper will be served at 7.00 followed immediately by the prizegiving for the overall leagues – results here. Make sure that you check out your position as you may be in for a surprise. It should be noted that, in all, we had 89 different sailors out during the summer which is a wonderful effort from all concerned.
Following the prizegiving there will be a special session with Nin for the 22 sailors who have qualified for the National Trials next year. Nin will meet the sailors and discuss plans for the coaching which is to start early in the New Year. The sailors will be given an opportunity to influence the nature and focus of the coaching to meet their requirements.
While this is going on, there will be a briefing for the remaining sailors and parents outlining the coaching arrangements for the other sailors.
We are also hoping to show some pictures of summer activities on a big screen and perhaps show the Setanta footage of the Optimist Nationals.
