O’Leary and Burrows current leaders in the Star Class after Day Two at Weymouth

Conditions today  at Weymouth saw an improvement with moderate south south- easterly winds 14 to 16 kts compared to yesterday’s windless conditions, but the incessant rain and cold still kept  the weather miserable.  However, the sailors were happy to have the improved wind and races missed yesterday were caught up as a result. O’Leary and Burrows had a 2nd, 4th and 1st respectively in the three races today and now currently lead the class on 12 pts followed by Scheidt/Prada on 14 pts, Clarke/Bjorn on 16 and Percy/Simpson on 23.  Of course this is the Star Class, as always with the top names to the fore, and constantly changing places so their guard can never be relaxed at this level.

In other Irish results Ryan Seaton and Matt McGovern had their second win of the series in the 49er and two twelfth placing leaving them in 12th overall.

Annalise Murphy also had a good day sailing two races and placing 3rd and 4th respectively leaving her 11th overall.

In the 470 class Gerbil Owens and Scott Flanigan had a consistent day placing 7th in both of their races leaving them 23rd overall and Laser sailor James Espey fnished 28th and 32nd in his two races.  He now lies 26th overall and in the Paralympic Sonar class John Twomey, Ian Costello and Anthony Hegarty placed 10th and 13th day.

All results are provisional.
