October 3rd is now almost upon us and it is the eagerly awaited date for the commencement of one of the major events in the club calendar, the O’Flynn Exhams Autumn Regatta. On Sunday it was good to meet competitors from Waterford Harbour Sailing Club already arriving in good time to make their berthing arrangements for the event.
As usual they were full of enthusiasm and looking forward very much to the sailing and aprés sailing as they had such a wonderful time at the event last October. Of course all visiting boats may avail of the free berthing arrangements at the club for the duration of the League.
By now sailors will have had a chance to study the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions available on the club website and if you haven’t seen them they are on the top of the Home Page under the O’Flynn Exhams Logo.
There will again be two fleets with classes Zero, One Two and 1720 designated as Red Fleet while classes Three, Four, Whitesail One and Whitesail Two will be designated Green Fleet and the classes will alternate between the courses each weekend.
A whisped has reached your scribe that a good turnout of 1720s is expected to sail.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place in each class and a daily prize giving will take place no later then 17.30 hrs in the RCYC Club House. The final prize giving will take place at the prize giving gala dinner on Saturday, October 30th. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
