Martin Breen’s Reflex 38 NUI Galway has won the coveted title of Boat of the Year and was a very popular winner at the Annual ICRA Conference held in Kilkenny yesterday (Sat). The Judges said the student based campaign embodied the spirit of ICRA.

Following the 2012 Round Ireland Race, for which event the boat was raced by a crew from NUI Galway, she was then campaigned by a separate inshore crew for the ICRA Nationals in Howth. This was followed by Cork Week 2012 at Royal Cork Yacht Club in July and finished off her 2012 season campaign competing in the Cork Dry Gin Calves Week at Schull in August.

Speaking with the crew during the Aprés Sailing at Schull one could not but be impressed with their unbounded enthusiasm for the campaign they had undertaken and expected to be down south again in 2013 for the ICRA Nationals in Fenit and the Sovereign’s Cup in Kinsale.
