While the rest of us prepare for Christmas and a well earned break, more of our dinghy sailors are busy preparing for International events!

A few ILCA6 sailors head for some pre-Christmas racing at Villamoura in Portugal to take part in the 6th Portugal Grand Prix Dec14th-17th.

Over the Christmas-New Year holidays, more of our ILCA4 & 29er sailors on the Irish Sailing squad/academy attend a training session in Valencia.

Soon after the holidays, the RCYC Optimist team depart for the Annual Optimist Team Racing event at Yacht Club de Monaco  on Jan10th-14th where they represent RCYC and Ireland to take on 15 other countries in this prestigious event. The Team Mum/Dad leads the team of Dougie Venner, Rian O’Neill, Annabelle Wilson, and Ayda Bruen.

More of the optimist sailors head south also to train in the warm climates of the Canaries while the rest of the family enjoy a break in the sun.

In February, the ILCA & 29er sailors are busy once again travelling to Portugal & Spain to take advantage of the warmer climate and large events to get in some early season racing. Back at the club, the 420, Topper ILCA, Optimist & 29er fleets are busy with elaborate Winter training programs in place.

All this before the Irish Sailing Youth Nationals 2024 which we will host, attracting up to 200 sailors. This premier sought after event is being held at RCYC for the 3rd time in 5 years.
