New York Invitational Cup – Latest Update 22.30 hrs Friday 18th

Nine races of the eleven race series have now been sailed.  Four races were sailed to-day and the competition has intensified even more.  However, the Host Club have consolidatd their lead on 39 points with the Royal Canadian Yacht Club on 52 points, the Japanese Sailing Federation are on 56 points, with the St. Francis Yacht Club (USA) on 64 points, one point ahead of the Royal Cork team on 65 points.

The Cork boat had a very good 2nd and 4th to-day.  However, two 17th places dropped their overall position to 5th.  Meanwhile, the Royal Cork and the Royal Danish each have a protest against the other while the Royal Canadian and YC Costa Smeralda both have a protest against the Royal Cork all in Race 9.  Given the time difference between us we will have to await the outcome of these protests.

The other Irish entry, the Royal St. George, had a win to-day in Race 8 and this leaves them lying 12th overall.

The final two races will take place to-morrow.
