NCB Ireland – The Sailors’ Perspective

1989 saw a unique effort by the Irish sailing community come to fruition. A project to fund, design, build and crew an entry in the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race. Members are invited to join us on Wednesday March 3rd at 20:00 via Zoom to hear the fantastic personal stories of two of those involved at the coalface of the project.

Then a member of the Irish Naval Service, Bob McCarthy will join us from Melbourne to share his experience from seeing an ad in the newspaper to successfully circumnavigating the globe. Bob will be joined by fellow sailor, coach and key member of the build team, Dave Harte, to give his memories of the project. Peter O’Donovan will be our host on the night meaning we are assured it’ll be entertaining. Please register below to access the event.
