The annual Naval Race was the platform today where the young sailors were given the opportunity to take the helm in the ISA J80 Sailfleet and what a job they made of it too. Darren O’Keeffe was certainly in a safe pair of hands with the Royal Cork Optimist Guru, Peter McCann, at the helm of Dun Laoghaire Marina. Mighty oaks from little acorns grow and, if the Royal Cork Junior sailors are anything to go by, the future of championship sailing is assured for many a long year.
The annual Naval Race is always eagerly looked forward to combining both racing and fun and finishing with the wonderful hospitality afforded the competitors and support fleet at the Naval Base at Haulbowline.
