National 18’s Wednesday Night 23/5/12

A moderate Southerly on a warm Wednesday evening with just a hint of sun saw another great fleet of 11 boats take to the water. Eddie, Siobhan and Áine Rice kindly donned the OD boots and gave us 2 great short sharp races. For the first time in15 years we had Badger on the starting line while the blue peter was still up, this must be something to do with the Rasher being still in the pucks since Saturday night! Eddie still had his work cut out for him in Race 1 with what must have been all 11 boats proving too eager, a general recall brought us all back for a second start. Oystercatcher was a touch dizzy, over at the line on the second start and doing turns after the first windward mark, resulting in sketchy detail! Needless to say good battles were had throughout the fleet resulting in;
1st Colin Chapman Aquaholics 370
2nd Tom Crosbie Sellulite 351
3rd Ewen Barry Good Bad & Ugly 362

Race 2 saw similar enthusiasm with some risking it, might this be contested?(Colin Barry Happy Days 358 OCS). All applications hand written in triplicate by 10:15am 24/5/12.

Race 2 results should have been;’

1st Ewen Barry Good Bad & Ugly 362
2nd Tom Crosbie Sellulite 351
3rd Bryan Hassett Clea 342

Thanks to Eddie and crew for doing OD and to the rescue crew for looking after us. Keith will have to watch his place. All on for last Friday race of May League? Looks like 13-21knts and sunny?ish.
