National 18 Cock ‘O’ the North Report and Results

Only just recovered !!!!!

I suppose all those who didn’t travel to Portland are dying to find out the gossip. I’m sworn to Roches Point Rules, or is it Portland Bill rules. But don’t worry I’ll find a way to get over that sailors promise by the time the laying up supper comes around in Nov………

Thamesis Club are producing a regatta report which I’ll make sure gets forwarded as soon as it appears. Needless to say it was an exhausting week both socially and on the water. The title was decided in the last race with three boats able to win. Would it be the erratic Jafica having won 5 races, would it be Happy Days having not put much of a foot wrong all week or would it be Aquaholics who generally had a hard time staying behind the start line. After the final race it turned out to be Aquaholics, Happy Days and Jafica in that order. Ball ‘n Chain took 4th, Urquharts in Don’t worry took a strong 5th (boy those guys are fast on a reach). A very happy Brian Hassett, Fred Cudmore and Sandy Rimmington took a fantastic 6th place, now racing under the pseudonym “Three Drowned Rats”

The results are attached for further browsing. Raffles put in a great couple of races, seeing a 5th  place in race 9. Green Dragon (Clea) got a 3rd and a 5th in race 4 & 7, Muchadoo some very good high end placings and were unlucky not to win the last race (suffering from the same OCS problem as Aquaholics) Staggeringly only three points separated  5th place from 9th overall.

So all in all a great week. The sailing was outstanding…. And I mean really good.

Socially we really found our feet ashore this time round. Lots of help from WPSA, the camping contingent and the Cove house Inn made for a great week of revelry…… Which I’ve no intention of putting into print at this juncture…………

More from us later this week, just thought we’d make contact.
