Established in 1944, the Sutton Book is the longest running team racing event in Ireland where senior Sutton Dinghy Club and Royal Cork Y. C.
dinghy sailors do battle on an annual basis to try and secure the famous book.
This year the event will be hosted by our National 18 class in home waters where they will welcome the Sutton sailors this weekend in order to establish the winning club for 2017 . The Royal Cork team will be captained by Ewen Barry , with Colin Barry and Charlo Dwyer completing the trio of helmsmen. Crew members will consist of Dion Barrett , Stan Browne , Paul Cotter and Ronan Kenneally.
Racing will take place on the Curlane bank and should make for interesting viewing should any members wish to spectate ( F.G. scheduled for 2pm on Saturday) .We wish them luck and great to see the event still very much alive – seventy three years on.
