Welcome to the start of the 2012 season and here’s hoping it will be a great one.
I would just like to say that I’m delighted to be representing the Motorboat cruisers within the club this year and if I can be of any assistance during the year please do not hesitate to contact me at motorcruisers@royalcork.com.
As you may be aware we will be running a number of new cruising events throughout the year, so please refer to this years’ club calendar for details and keep an eye on the club website. Our first outing will be a cruise in company to Kinsale on Sunday May 6th so keep this date free if possible.
We have already commenced our “Skippers Evenings” which are being held on the first Tuesday of each month in the club, so be sure to keep this date free.
Over the coming weeks and months we are planning to keep a constant stream of articles and reports posted on the web which will hopefully be of particularly interest to the motorboat cruisers. Our next article will detail the necessary steps in preparing your boat and in particular your engine for the coming season.
We are also planning a repeat of last year’s boat handling demonstration at our next Skippers Evening with Mark Ring and Kevin Higgins on Tuesday 1st of May so hopefully we can all end up handling our boats more like this www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XaoAc5idqY&feature=related and avoid the usual tide with wind hassles. The demonstration will be followed by a talk on the new coast guard station.
