National 18’s Wednesday Night 9/5/12
Another night of thrills and spills in the National 18ft class. 8 boats took to the water for two exciting windward / leeward races provided by Kieth McKeown, held in among the valuable yachts of the Crosshaven estuary. An easterly 20 gusting 25 knots made it interesting to say the least.
The first casualty was Breakeven 329. Willie with his all girl crew battled the elements bravely but eventually succumbed to the cold.
Race 1 was won by Happy Days with Colin getting clear air at the start and never looking back. He was followed by Cellulite and Clea
Race 2 and Happy Days never looked troubled unlike Oystercatcher whose middle man [Das boot skipper ]missed his toe straps and over we went only to have fastest recovery in history (1min20sec) and finish a credible 6th. Cellulite was again 2nd and Clea 3rd. All in all a great night of testing sailing.
As can be seen Clea leads the field in the overall standings followed closely by Oystercatcher and Badger.
Team 3 is leading the Teams. Team captain Nick Walsh must be thrilled with the way his YOUNG Team is preforming up to now.
Tomorrow, Friday night is up next lets keep the momentum up and get Boats on the Water, it looks like it’s going to be a cracker!
