Miss Betty Cup, Donated by J. Clayton Love

Presented by J.Clayton Love in 1955 and named for his wife. It was donated to be competed for in a long distance Race by Centre Board Dinghies. Clayton Love sailed in the Olympics in the 505 class. He has also been involved in the RNLI for many years and funded a new inshore Lifeboat – RNLB Miss Betty – for Crosshaven RNLI. He was deply involved in the Joining together of the Royal Munster Yacht Club and the Royal Cork Yacht Club in 1966. He was Admiral of the Royal Cork Yacht Club from 1968-1971. He sailed in the Admiral’s Cup on several occasions. He restored the Cork Harbour One Design “Jap”, and raced her very successfully in Regattas around Europe.
