The Royal Cork will host a fabulous array of dinghy sailors this coming weekend. A mix of all ages and abilities will be spread across different fleets such as RS 400’s , laser radials , toppers , laser 4.7’s, optimists , 420’s and RS 200’s. Dinghy sailing is alive and well.
On Saturday the RS class are running a Sprint event, 8 x 12 minute races. FG is 13:00. They will have a number 400’s and a 200 in action. On Sunday , they will also be hosting an invitational/ try out day. Briefing is in the club house at 10:00 and format to be dependant on numbers who wish to avail of this great opportunity.
The lSA Spring laser squads will also be training on site over the two days (the squads in question being made up of many of our own Royal Cork sailors as well as sailors from other clubs). They will do so along side our own club training programme which is open to all our laser sailors.
The 420 class association are holding an open training weekend and expect to have eight boats in action over the two days.
Meanwhile the topper fleet are back in action after their recent four day stint in Schull. Numbers are strong and all look forward to spending time on the water as they build up to the 2016 competitive season. Our optimist fleet will be some what depleted as we have thirteen members heading to Cardiff to compete in an optimist Spring series. Very best of luck to all those travelling.
Finally, the Club bar will be open early this Saturday and Sunday and will be serving Tea/coffee & scones with Jam and cream at a special price of three euro. We look forward to seeing you there.
