MIDSUMMER MADNESS AT ROYAL CORK

A fleet of almost 50 boats sailed in the Summer Madness outing on Friday night.  The large gathering were competing in the Union Chandlery and Masts and Rigging Leagues.  The fleets raced for the added bonus of two magnificent  prizes of a dinghy presented by HM Yachts Ltd. and an outboard engine presented by Marine Motors Ltd.

Racing was held in a stiff North Westerly breeze and competitors enjoyed a circular  type course with a beat to No. 10, a fetch to No.12 and a run and  reach to finish.  The impression got was that the sailors found this course very enjoyable racing.  Race Officers for the event were Vinnie O’Shea and Martin Darrer.

The new patio area at the Royal Cork Clubhouse was put to good use after completion of racing.

Further pictures of the racing may be viewed on the Bateman Gallery.
