Kinsale Yacht Club Spring Series

Following the blow out of last Monday’s racing at Kinsale the series got underway today in a light north easterly wind that strengthened somewhat for the second race of the day under a glorious blue sky and it was just what the doctor ordered to set the mood for the league.

As in the Royal Cork October League Kinsale has opted for a two race format each day sailed over two courses and today it was the turn of the bigger boats to sail round the cans while the lower rated classes had a windward/leeward course and the White Sail boats, who are only sailing one race per day, sailed  their own course.

Many Royal Cork members traditionally travel to this very popular event and this year is no exception. A lot of interest will centre on the Commodores Cup yachts competing, Anthony O’Leary’s Ker 39 Antix and Dave Dwyer’s  Marinerscove.ie. Interestingly enough Antix is berthed at Kinsale alongside Cian MacCarthy’s Open 40 Cinnamon Girl. There are also great expectations that Kinsale will see the new  Davies/Creighton Corby 36, Roxy 6 before the final race of the series on Saturday May 1st.

Race Officers for the event are the highly experienced Alan Crosbie and Jeanot Petch.
