Easterly winds of between 20 and 25 knots were the order of the day for the final day of racing of the Spring Series at Kinsale. The wind coupled with a west going tide provided boisterous conditions as only Kinsale seas can throw up.
The day was not without incidents with many retirals and a collision at the start of the final race for Class 4. Unsurprisingly, there were not too many spinnakers visible and in Race 1 none at all were hoisted in Class Zero 1. In Class 2 the boys on Bad Company were brave enough to try as also was Leonard Donnery’s No Gnomes. In Class 3 Eamonn Rohan’s Anchor Challenge was also up for it. However, it was the beats that were to provide the most testing conditions.
Kieran Twomey’s Gloves Off won Class 0 IRC, Eamonn Rohan’s Anchor Challenge took Class 3 IRC while Michael Murphy’s Shelly D took first in ECHO and second in IRC.
The event also counted for the SCORA League and to-day’s (Saturday) racing was sponsored by Ron Holland Design.
