The Royal Cork Yacht Club Keelboat racing fleet are preparing for what will hopefully be the first full season of racing since 2019. The Covid-19 crisis continues to dominate but hopefully with the restrictions almost gone we should be good for a full season, fingers crossed. Hopefully with the longer evenings and improving temperatures the pre-season works are in full swing.
The local 1720 fleet will start the Royal Cork Yacht Club Keelboat racing 2022 season on Sunday March 20th with racing starting at 10:15hrs.
The WhiteSail fleet will commence on Easter Saturday 16th April (FG 12:00hrs) and continue on Saturdays for the rest of April.
There will be a number of Club boats heading over to Kinsale to race in the Kinsale Yacht Club Spring Series. As always Kinsale YC will provide great racing with a mix of around the cans and laid courses over the month of racing.
The May bank holiday Monday will provide the first race in the ‘Offshore Series’. The race format shall be one long race (3 to 5 hours depending on conditions) in the outer harbour area. Bring your sandwiches, family and friends. This will be open to both Spinnaker and NonSpinnaker fleets. First gun planned for 1100hrs.
The first Midweek league race will be Thursday 5th May. This will be the usual format with the proposed start and finish area being in and around the Grassy Walk and Cage Buoy. The Club Course Card will be used as the default course selection (available behind the Bar). First Gun will be 1855hrs.
The White Sail Friday Night league will follow a similar format as the Thursday nights. First Race will be Friday 6th May with first gun planned for 1855hrs.
From May onwards there is a great mix of racing for all the fleets planned. We welcome interest from sponsors for our events throughout the year.
