Junior Sailors to the Fore in Cobbler League

Members of the IODAI Junior Team, that had such a successful
trip to the British National Championships earlier in the year, fill the first
seven places overall in the Cobbler League. Seafra Guilfoyle leads from Philip
Brownlow and Peter McCann after five races (all Royal Cork).

Full results are available here .

The sailors were briefed on the subject of fair sailing at
the start of the day following the endemic flouting of the rules in the second
race of the previous weekend. Admirably, the transgressors took the opportunity
to retire even if they were not caught by the race officer and the lesson was
learnt.

Seafra Guilfoyle continues to shine even at the end of his spectacular
season where he has won almost everything he entered. He had a first, a 2nd
and an 8th on a day when the conditions were light and variable to
finish on 16 points. He is followed closely by Philip Brownlow on 18 points who
had two race wins and a 9th. Peter McCann dropped back a bit this
weekend from 2nd overall with a 5th, a 7th and
a 15th in this competitive 62 boat fleet.

Another notable result included Sophie Browne (TBSC/ RCYC)
who had a great day with a 3rd, a 2nd and a 4th.

The sailors will now be allocated into Gold, Silver and
Bronze fleets according to their overall positions after five races. Racing
continues for a further two Sundays on the 19th and 26th
October.

In the Copper Fleet, which is run separately, the
Gaeilgeoirs are dominating the results with Eoghan O’Buachalla (TBSC) leading
from Cliodhna ní Shúileabháin (KYC).
