Junior Sailors Day Kicks off at Rocky Bay (literally)

Sunday last was set aside for the Junior sailors of the club to race aboard the ISA J80 boats so that they could get a feel of keel boat racing.

The wind however was not in their favour and with gusts of 25 knots +, it was felt it would be more like hard work if they were to head to sea.

Plan B was sprung into action and all headed off (by road) to near by rocky bay beach where many got involved in a very competitive game of tag rugby. The referee was none other than Frank Thompson who appeared to have no problem with his son Richard engaging in spear type tackles in order to win the ball.

Back to the club during early afternoon for a BBQ in the dinghy centre that was prepared by Mary O Sullivan, Melanie McGinley & Michael McCann.

The meat was kindly sponsored by Tom Durcan of Durcan Meats which was accompanied by some very nice salads produced by the parents of the junior sailors. Despite not being able to go on the water, all would appear to have headed home still tired from the sea air and content with their day.
