As May draws to a close, the windy weather significantly curtailed much of Saturday league racing for our optimist sailors during the month, losing a total of three Saturdays due to adverse weather. June we hope, will tell a different story and with the commencement of the midweek league each Tuesday evening, there promises to be a lot of activity on the water.
Darren O Keeffe and his team have successfully completed two months of Saturday morning sessions for potential new young sailors to the class. As an extension to this, there will be further Saturday training sessions during the month of June for the more advanced and details will follow shortly regarding what is proposed and will be headed up by Linda O Keeffe in Darren’s absence.
Saturday League racing will continue with first gun @ 2.30 , while the Tuesday night league will commence on the 7th and run throughout the summer months. First Gun @ 6.30 each evening so please ensure everyone is rigged and ready to go on the water for 5.45pm.
Fernando returns to the club for the month of June much to the delight of many optimist sailors. As has been recently posted on the club website, a significant training schedule has been organised which will benefit many of our sailors. Any queries around the optimist schedule, please contact Michael McCann.
As always, please make sure you sign up to the duty roster so as to ensure that all events on the water can be conducted effectively. Any queries, please contact Billy Duane who will be more than happy to assist you.
Finally, we wish our travelling sailors good luck for the remaining two regional events of 2011 being held during June; The Ulster regional’s are being hosted by the royal northern y.c. and the Munster regional’s being hosted by Tralee bay S.C.
