June Bank Holiday weekend

The June bank holiday weekend is fast approaching. The Glandore At Home regatta is on Sunday June 6th. This year Kinsale Yacht Club has kindly invited us to join them in the race from Kinsale to Castletownsend on Saturday morning, June 5th.  FG 0955. This race will be race 2 of the SCORA “Jim Donegan Offshore Series”.

Due to falling numbers in recent years, the usual Saturday morning race from Crosshaven to Glandore is not being run this year.

A feeder race from Crosshaven to Kinsale will take place on Friday evening, June 4th, with a FG at 1840 at the Grassy/Cage, with Race Officer Alan Fehily and team working VHF 71. There will be free berthing in KYC on Friday evening. Please contact KYC directly to arrange a berth prior to the start.

KYC will have food available on Friday evening, but competitors are asked to please make either RCYC or KYC aware if you intend to race, to enable both clubs to plan accordingly.
I’m told that craic, entertainment, and good company will be plentiful in Castletownsend on Saturday. A ferry (with a strict lifejacket policy) will be running. I’m also advised that anyone wanting to eat in Maryann’s is advised to book early (028 36146 or 086 8510531).

On Sunday, the fleet are invited to the Glandore At-Home Regatta, FG 1330.
Entries will be taken in the Glandore Inn from 1100

There will be an Après sailing party with Live Band, and prizegiving after racing.
Ferry will be available until 2330…..no later, so if you want to stay ashore, please book accommodation early, or wrap up warm!

This will hopefully prove to be a popular weekend, and will lead to increased attendance at the Glandore At Home, which was always a very popular regatta with RCYC boats.
