The beautiful Cork Harbour One Design, Jap, will compete in Cove Sailing Club’s annual Cobh to Blackrock Race this Saturday. A number of members, including Admiral Colin Morehead, brought her through her paces in the harbour last weekend, as posted to Facebook in the video below.
Earlier this year, the boat originally built in 1897 in Carrigaloe, was very generously donated to the Royal Cork by David Sheriff and as outlined at the AGM, a structure has been put in place to ensure no financial burden rests with the club. Over the coming months plans will be announced as to how you can help play a part in the preservation of this icon and ensure she continues to play a part in the maritime history of our wonderful club and harbour.
