Irish Youth Nationals – Day 3 Update

Friday was a pet day in Howth with 10 knots of breeze and bright sunshine. Three races were had in all fleets. Team RCYC continue to perform strongly with Seafra Guilfoyle and Cian Byrne in 1st and 2nd place respectively in the laser radials – Cian had a particularly good day with a 1st and 2nd.

Johnny Durcan is lying 3rd overall in the 4.7s and Adam D’Arcy 3rd in the Topper fleet. The 420s had a very good day with Peter McCann and Arran Walsh getting a bullet to move into 2nd overall, only 5 points behind them in 4th place are Harry Whitaker and Grattan Roberts.

The oppies had a very long day, first to launch and last to come in, three of our sailors are in top 10 positions – James McCann 2nd, Cathal O’Regan 8th and Chris Bateman 10th overall. The sailors have an unexpected day off today, due to stong south-easterlies and high waves. Luckily the Dublin Bay Prawn festival is providing lots of entertainment and food with ‘merries’ on shore.
