Examiner Round Island Race

Irish Examiner Round the Island Race

The great tradition of the “Irish Examiner Round the Island” race was enacted last weekend when, despite what can only be described as miserable weather, a hardy selection of cruisers and dinghies assembled at Cage to race each other around Spike Island. Top honours in the dinghies went to the 420 combo of Peter McCann and Arran Walsh, who also won the perpetual trophy for this iconic race. Deirdre & Paul Tingle’s ‘Alpaca 3’ won in IRC, Martin Darrer & Colman Garvey’s ‘True Pennance’ came first in Echo and Micheal Lynch’s ‘Lady T’ triumphed in White Sail. Many thanks to Ted Crosbie and the Examiner for sponsoring the race.
